Vampire: The Masquerade - L.A. By Night Wiki

The original Inquisition was the one we all learned about in school and movies: a formal war on witches and the occult sponsored by the Church and waged by specially-trained Inquisitors who employed torture to wring confessions out of its victims. The Inquisition discovered so many vampires during its reign of terror that many undead decided to go into hiding. As a direct result of this threat, they created the Masquerade, and the sect known as the Camarilla to enforce it.

That was over 500 years ago. Tonight, the hunters are government agents working for various secret agencies in many different countries. They discovered the existence of vampires only recently, and have been working to understand and fight the "undead threat" for perhaps the last decade. Very few vampires know much about these agencies or how much they know, but only the most foolish lick doesn’t take them seriously.

Organization[]

Several agents in the FBI Special Affairs Division believe in the existence of vampires and hunt them. The Division also knows that there are "monsters" in Griffith Park but does not know that they are werewolves.

History[]

Beginnings[]

Some members of the Camarilla used increased United States government surveillance in response to the War on Terror to send the FBI after the Sabbat. Just like the First Inquisition, the strategy backfired on the Camarilla. Government agencies began hunting down all vampires, not just the Sabbat.

ShrekNet, a dark web communication system used by Nosferatu, was discovered. It was shut down but not before the Inquisition found information on many Kindred.

Resources[]

Inquisitors are often equipped with specialized gear for hunting and taking out vampires.

  • a modernized version of the Raufoss Gun which fires special incendiary rounds
  • specially crafted wooden stakes
  • blueish, shining liquid that can erode metal very quickly[1]
